Taylor Swift has been a vocal ally to the LGBTIQ+ community for a while now.
In April of this year, the pop star to the Tennessee Equality Project, a group in Nashville dedicated to fighting a fresh slate of anti-LGBTIQ+ bills. In February, she with a super cute acoustic performance.
And last year, she to her LGBTIQ+ fans, saying: “This month and every month I want to send my love and respect to everybody who has been brave enough to be honest about how they feel, to live their lives as they are, as they feel they should be, as they identify."
Now the superstar has upped the ante for Pride Month, releasing a new single called 'You Need To Calm Down', which has been called a Pride Anthem.
In the track, Swift even gives a shout-out to American LGBTIQ+ organisation GLAAD - including the lyrics, "Why are you mad / When you could be GLAAD."
And, well, safe to say the lyrical nod has had some real impact!
According to Anthony Ramos, Director of Talent Engagement at GLAAD, there has been a noticeable since Swift released the song with many fans donating $13.00 due to Swift's lucky number being thirteen.
"Taylor Swift is one of the world's biggest pop stars," Ramon said in a statement.
"The fact that she continues to use her platform and music to support the LGBTQ community and the Equality Act is a true sign of being an ally."
He continued: 'You Need to Calm Down' is the perfect Pride anthem, and we're thrilled to see Taylor standing with the LGBTIQ+ community to promote inclusivity, equality, and acceptance this Pride month."
