Pop star Kesha has dropped a politically charged new single called 'Rich, White, Straight Men' and it's the thigh-slapping, anti-patriarch Pride anthem we didn't know we needed.
With some very welcome nods to the Burlesque soundtrack, the single, which Kesha yesterday, imagines a world that isn't run by rich, white, straight men... and, to be honest, it sounds pretty nice.
The song's lyrics, set to the sound of coins dropping and cash registers opening, include: "And if you are a boy who loves a boy/You'll get a wedding cake and all/And if you are a lady and you do your lady work/Then you will make as many dollars as the boys/Not just two thirds."
While the surprise track is yet to be released on streaming services including iTunes and Spotify, fans were quick to sing its praises on social media.
"Radio won't play ‘Rich, White, Straight, Men’ because it's controlled by Rich White Straight Men," one fan predicted.
Another described the song as "a call to action, a carnival-esque musical number the size of a Tim Burton animation."
So... I guess Kesha snapped? And we're 100 per cent here for it.
