According to the latest Australia’s consumer price index, Australia’s cost of annual living amounts to increase from 1 February 2018 and this will go to affect to Student Visa, Department of Home Affairs said.

Therefore, from 1 February 2018, every student visa application should include the updated cost of living amounts when they showing their evidence of funds.

The new calculations as follows:

 

• Student or guardian: AUD$20,290
• Partner or spouse: AUD$7,100
• Child: AUD$3,040

Furthermore, Department of Home Affairs is expecting a peak visa lodgement period between now and April 2018, Alice Maclean, Director – Student and Graduate Visas said.

As a result, it is very important that you submit your complete student visa application at least 6 weeks before your course starts, the department stated.

When a Student visa application lodge, evidence of financial capacity must attach to your application and also you must declare the evidence of genuine access to those funds, the department said.

And also you must attach your English proficiency or your exemption evidence with your application.

According to the department, if you fail to provide those evidence may lead to a visa refusal.

Moreover, ‘Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) statement’ is vital and within that, you should address following key points.

 

• Explain any gaps in study or employment.
• Reasons the student is studying in a field unrelated to their previous study or employment.
• How completing the study will help students fulfil their future plans.
