It’ll cost you $390 plus an airfare to New York to eat at the newly crowned World’s Best Restaurant

Last night the World’s 50 Best Restaurants were announced at Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building, with a new number one.

Manhattan’s took out the top accolade, moving up from position three in last year’s list.

Focused food with flair, like their signature bombe Alaska (the finale to their 11-course $US295 tasting menu), is what has earned Eleven Madison Park’s co-owners, chef Daniel Humm and general manager Will Guidara, the most prestigious restaurant award.
Not to mention their own colouring book.

And also chef Humm’s larger-than-life portrait gracing a Melbourne laneway.
Last year’s winner, Massimo Bottura’s Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy, moved down to position two, followed by Spain’s El Celler de Can Roca.

Australia was well represented on the list with Ben Shewry’s Melbourne restaurant climbing one spot to number 32, while fellow Victorian, Dan Hunter of , rose to number 44 (debuting in the top 50 rankings).
