In some increasingly rare good and wholesome news, the two contestants from Bachelor Vietnam who previously declared their feelings for each other are now both off the show and back together.
The pair made headlines around the world when, during a rose ceremony, eliminated contestant Minh Thu asked fellow hopeful Truc Nhu to leave the show to be with her.
“I went into this competition to find love,” Thu told the Bachelor.
“I’ve found that love for myself. But it isn’t you. It’s someone else.”
To the disappointment of social media users globally, Nhu eventually decided to stay on the reality program. However, the show’s executive producer Anh Tran yesterday confirmed that the pair are currently together.
“They left the show and have been together since. We delivered on our promise that two people would find love,” Tran told .
A Vietnamese viewer of the show shared an update on social media yesterday, which went viral. Lucy Jackson explained in a : “They (Nhu and Thu) just wanted to make sure their feelings weren’t just a misconception of love because they are so close,” adding that Nhu stayed on the show for a further two episodes before asking to leave as she had “already found what she was looking for.”
Producer Anh-Thu Nguyen said that the couple's love story was especially powerful “in the context of Vietnamese culture."
“It’s been a proud experience to see our clip resonate around the world and become an unexpected platform for discussing LGBTQI+ issues in Vietnam on a global scale,” she said.
