Schitt's Creek star Dan Levy has taken out a gong at this week's MTV TV and Movie Awards, winning the golden popcorn for Best Comedic Performance.

Wearing a red Alexander McQueen suit, Levy was visibly surprised by the result - particularly given Schitt's Creek's .

“Wow, thank you to MTV. I actually started my career at MTV, so this is an insane full-circle moment,” Levy, who is openly gay, said.

“I’m Canadian, this is very overwhelming for me,” he continued.

“But I will say this: it’s very hard to be funny if you don’t have people to be funny with, so for that I want to thank our brilliant cast, many of whom are here tonight.”
Levy went on to thank his father his father and series co-star, Eugene Levy.

“I’d like to thank my dad, Eugene Levy, who I feel like through some kind of osmosis, DNA has gave me just a taste of the talent that he has.”

He added: “If I have taken anything away from making Schitt’s Creek, it’s that kindness always wins, that love is best served unconditionally, and that wearing sweaters in the dead of summer is a very, very bad idea."

Levy's performance on Schitt's Creek, which will come to an end after its sixth season, has been celebrated by members of the LGBTIQ+ community for effortlessly portraying a pansexual character.

Now, to get Catherine O'Hara her much-deserved Emmy for bringing us the incomparable Moira Rose.
