It's hard to imagine a good news story emerging from the panic, fear and disorder the coronavirus has brought.
But people are fighting back - with kindness.
Social media users shared stories of helping elderly neighbours and supporting others in the midst of panic buying and self-isolation, tagging the stories #kindnesskillscovid.
"My building is 50% people over the age of 70. Yesterday I offered to do grocery shopping for my neighbours because they're already immunocompromised. They seemed unconcerned but that's them," Twitter user Jean Leggett shared.
"A lady was holding the very last pack of toilet paper in her hands. She handed my daughter the pack of TP, telling her that it was ok, she had some in the car," another social media user tweeted.
Last week, an American woman Rebecca Mehra shared a story on Twitter of how she helped an elderly couple stuck in a shopping rush to buy groceries after being handed $100 through a car window. The thread went viral, attracting hundreds and thousands of likes, shares and mentions.
“Look out for your neighbors. Look out for the other folks in your community. It’s a difficult time. People are really scared… but kindness helps. Be kind to your neighbor,” Mehra later .
