Not that she ever went anywhere, but country music icon Dolly Parton is enjoying a bit of a renaissance at the moment.
The 73-year-old is not only the focus of hit podcast series , but she's on the promotional trail for her new Netflix series, Dolly Parton's Heartstrings - a dramatic anthology chronicling the stories behind some of her biggest songs.
During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week, Parton reminded her gay fans precisely why she's such a lasting icon - performing special version of 'Jolene'.
Asked by Meyers about the inspiration behind 'Jolene', the singer explained that the song's namesake was a bank teller she was jealous of after getting married.
Meyers then mentioned that his son was a big fan of the Grammy-winning track. Dolly being Dolly, she then performed it live for him.
However, following the first line of the chorus, Parton said, “This is for my gay crowd,” and sang, “Drag queen, drag queen, drag queen, drag queen… please don’t take him just because you can.”
Fans on Twitter were quick to point out that the star often performs her 'drag queen' version of the track at concerts, dedicated, as always, to her gay fans.
