Actor Lucas Hedges has opened up about his sexuality in a strikingly honest interview, admitting that he's "not totally straight".
The Academy Award nominated star made the comments to ahead of his Broadway debut in 'The Waverly Gallery'.
“In the early stages of my life, some of the people I was most infatuated with were my closest male friends,” he said in the interview.
“That was the case through high school, and I think I was always aware that while for the most part I was attracted to women, I existed on a spectrum.”
The young actor, who plays the lead role in Joel Edgerton's forthcoming film Boy Erased continued: “I felt ashamed that I wasn’t 100 percent, because it was clear that one side of sexuality presents issues, and the other doesn’t as much.
“I recognise myself as existing on that spectrum: Not totally straight, but also not gay and not necessarily bisexual.”
Also starring Nicole Kidman and Russel Crowe, Boy Erased tells the true story of a 19-year-old man who attends a 'gay conversion' therapy program so as to avoid being shunned by his religious family and friends.
