The nationals will return to Ballarat for the 15th consecutive year in 2021 and will be a bright spot on what is set to be a quiet Australian summer of cycling after the cancellation of the Tour Down Under and Cadel's Road Race.
Traditionally held in early January, event organisers have made the decision to hold this year's championships from February 3 to February 7.
The February date will also provide riders with additional time to prepare for the Championships, and assist those athletes who will also participate in December’s Track National Championships.
Across the five-days, hundreds of Australia’s finest elite, para, under-23, under-19 and amateur riders are set to line up for their chance to wear the green and gold jersey in 2021.
The 2021 schedule will mirror the successful format seen in 2020 which saw the Championships open on Wednesday night with the time trial at Federation University’s Mt Helen Campus.
The action-packed Friday night criterium will light up the streets of the Ballarat CBD and kick-start an exciting weekend of road racing on the iconic Mt Buninyong circuit.
“After such a challenging year we are excited to be able to host the Road National Championships," AusCycling's acting Joint CEO Steve Drake said.
"We look forward to the Championships providing a positive impact for Ballarat and the cycling community as part of an exciting domestic summer of cycling."
