Bouhanni was set to be the lead rider for Arkea-Samsic for this season’s Saudi Tour with the team now forced to reshuffle their deck before the five-day race begins on February 1.
The speedster was one of the stars of the Saudi Tour when it was last held in 2020, narrowly missing out on winning the five-day event behind German Phil Bauhaus.
After a difficult 2021 season, the sprinter friendly Saudi Tour offered Bouhanni the perfect platform to kickstart his 2022 campaign.
The 2022 Saudi Tour will start on February 1 in Al-Ula and consist of five stages with the race ending in Al Ula Old Town on February 5.
Eight UCI WorldTour teams will participate in the event, including Bahrain Victorious, Bora – Hansgrohe, Cofidis, Caleb Ewan's Lotto Soudal, Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team, Team BikeExchange – Jayco, Team DSM and UAE Team Emirates.
