The EF Pro Cycling rider set a time of seven hours, 29 minutes and 57 seconds according to Hells 500 - the organisation behind the challenge - and defeated Swenson by some 10 minutes.

Less than a week after his initial attempt was nullified due to erroneous data, Morton's second saw the 8,848m Mount Everest-like climb take place on the backside of Rist Canyon, Colorado.

A slightly different Strava segment was used to track the 28-year-old's pursuit, one since verified using accurate LiDAR data.
