The 54 year-old addressed the speculation at a media conference prior to the Sky Blues A-League clash with the Central Coast Mariners on Saturday morning according to a report by Fox Sports.

“I have had a conversation. They’ve made contact with me,” Arnold said.

“They told me what type of process they’re going to go through. I actually - after having it explained to me - think it’s a fantastic process to get the right people involved and make those kind of decisions. I can’t go into further detail than that but there has been contact made.”

Arnold is widely considered to be one of the top candidates for the role, joining a group that includes the likes locals Tony Popovic and Kevin Muscat,Argentinian Marcelo Bielsa and Louis Van Gaal and Bert van Marwijik from the Netherlands.

Sydney FC management have asserted they are desperate to keep their manager, who revitalised the club after a number of disappointing seasons.
