NITV’s The Point examines Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in protective services

Tonight, NITV’s news and current affairs program, The Point examines the plight of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and protective services across Australia.

On the anniversary of the  or 'the Little Children are Sacred Report', NITV reporter Madeline Hayman-Reber explores the case of a child allegedly sexually assaulted in Tennant Creek earlier this year, and speaks with the child’s mother for the first time. Hayman-Reber’s interview comes after the Northern Territory Children’s Commissioner Colleen Gwynne released an ‘Own Initiative Report’, consulting services and community members associated with the case.
Also in the episode, co-hosts, Rachael Hocking and John Paul Janke will be joined on the panel by special guest Geraldine Atkinson, the Deputy Chairperson of SNAICC and Aunty Hazel Collins from  to explore solutions for this national crisis.

NITV reporter Liz Deep-Jones will examine the current state of the NSW Child Protection system, and speaks to the Chief Executive Officer of the Aboriginal Child, Family and Community Care State Secretariat, Tim Ireland.
Queensland correspondent Ella Archibald-Binge speaks to two sisters fighting reforms to the Australian Family Law Act to help parents with children overseas, and the program also hears from the Federal Assistant Minister for Children and Families, Dr David Gillespie.
