Kamilaroi and Birri Gubba man Mitch Tambo has gone straight to the semi-finals of Australia’s Got Talent after he wowed judges by showcasing his culture.

When he’s not performing, Tambo runs his own business True Culture, which works with schools and educators to help teach Indigenous history and culture.

The 29-year-old artist's song ‘Walanbaa’ showed his music ability and traditional dance skills with an original song in Kamilaroi language that was met with a standing ovation.

“I just thought this was such a great show to come on to show Australia and the world that our culture is alive, it’s well, it’s breathing, and it deserves to be showcased and celebrated in 2019,” he said.
Talent show judge Nicole Scherzinger was in tears following Tambo’s performance and hit the golden buzzer to send him straight to the semi-finals.

“You really inspire me and I think you are a true, true representative of Australia’s beauty, culture, and talent,” she said.

“You totally spoke to my soul and my spirit. That was so moving, you’re so deserving – you and your beautiful team. I genuinely loved it.”

Fans took to social media after the show, praising Tambo for his performance.
