Filipino and Wiradjuri singer-songwriter Mojo Juju is the front-runner for the 2019 Nation Indigenous Music Awards following the success of her third album Native Tongue.

She has earned nominations for best artist, best album, best song and best film clip.

Other leading nominees include rappers Tasman Keith, Baker Boy and Briggs, genre-bending music duo Electric Fields and iconic singer songwriter Archie Roach.

The 2019 NIMAs will be held at the Darwin Amphitheatre on August 10 and broadcast on NITV.

Jessica Mauboy and Dan Sultan have been announced as headline acts. Also slated to appear on stage are Indigenous choir collective Spinifex Gum, Larrakia Nation’s Kenbi Dancers and Indigenous violinist Eric Avery.

"In the past year, Indigenous music has continued its meteoric rise to the top of music in Australia, pushing boundaries and finding its place at the forefront of art in our country," said NIMA spokesman Warren H. Williams.

"The NIMAs follows that rise ready to recognise and amplify the voices of our musicians on their journey upwards."
