About the film

As a fair skinned, middle-aged Aboriginal man with a Norwegian wife and two kids, filmmaker Grant Saunders has always struggled with his identity. Concerned that he has been away from his home Country for twenty years, Grant seizes the opportunity to quit everything to go fishing along Manning River with his father Ray – and to hopefully salvage a relationship he spoiled some time ago. Teach A Man To Fish is about Grant’s journey back to Country; his desire to reconcile with Ray; and learning that culture will always be intrinsic to his identity.
