Police are yet to make any arrests over the arson attack on a Melbourne synagogue that's prompted the announcement.
But Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan has said she's been assured by the chief commissioner there has been "progress" in the investigation.
"I've spoken to the Chief Commissioner this morning. I want to be absolutely clear that the Commissioner and the Victoria Police and the Australian Federal Police have their counter-terrorism units at the centre of this investigation. They are going to meet tomorrow (Monday) morning to review the evidence of the investigation to date and they will provide further advice following that meeting."

Foreign Ministers from Iran, Turkiye and Russia have held an emergency meeting over the unfolding crisis in Syria.
They have been joined by representatives from Saudi Arabia and Egypt on the margins of the Doha Forum.
The three nations are part of the Astana process established in 2017 to address the conflict in Syria and find a path to peace.
Turkey backs Syrian rebels in the conflict while Iran and Russia are the Assad regime’s principal supporters - but Turkiye's Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Nuh Yilmaz says his country has had no involvement in this rebel uprising.
“The lack of hope for the comprehensive resolution and the continued violations of the Astana agreement brought the country to this point and seems to be the driving force behind the ongoing operation. Let me underline that: Turkey is not behind the current military operation, nor did we give our consent to it. We did not want to have further instability in the region, as the Israeli aggression is already sweeping the region."

In motor sport,
Aussie driver Oscar Piastri will start the Abu Dhabi grand prix from second place on the grid.
The 23-year-old has recorded the second-fastest lap.
It puts Mclaren in a prime position of claiming the constructor's championship this weekend, as Ferrari's Charles Leclerc falls even further behind with a ten place grid penalty for going over the track limits in turn one.
Piastri says the situation is in Mclaren's hands.
"You know, I think we're in the best spot possible. Of course hopefully we can control what we want to do. It's up to Ferrari to make the risky moves."
