Woolworths is expected to reinstall a version of Qantas frequent flyer points after dumping it for a revamped rewards scheme.
The retailer says it is still in negotiations with Qantas but would not confirm speculation that it has struck a deal with the airline to allow customers to convert Woolworths Rewards into Qantas frequent flyer points.
Woolworths dumped the Qantas Frequent Flyers scheme and replaced its Everyday Rewards card with a new scheme called Woolworths Rewards in October.
The new scheme rewards loyal shoppers with more food and liquor discounts.
Customers who buy items marked with an orange ticket accumulate "Woolworths dollars" and when it reaches $10 they get that amount off their next shopping bill.
However, the scheme has been criticised by consumer group Choice as convoluted because it makes customers go through the hoops of a rewards program to get a discount when they can buy cheaper products at Aldi.
