WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has denied the Russian government is the source of Hillary Clinton's emails.
"The Clinton camp has been able to project a neo-McCarthyist hysteria that Russia is responsible for everything," Assange said in an exclusive interview with Russian broadcaster RT
He said Hillary Clinton "has stated multiple times, falsely, that 17 US intelligence agencies had assessed that Russia was the source of our publications".
The whistleblower, who has been holed up in London's Ecuadorian Embassy for the past four years, said the allegations were false, adding "the Russian government is not the source."
Assange said he felt sorry for people like Hillary Clinton, who "are eaten alive by their ambitions, tormented literally to the point where they become sick".
Over the past few months, WikiLeaks has published over 30,000 Clinton emails from a private server she used while serving as US Secretary of State.
The portal has also divulged nearly 20,000 mails sent and received by members of the US Democratic National Committee, which reveal the party leadership's evident contempt for Bernie Sanders and his primaries campaign.
