Reclaim Australia 'deeply saddened' by Barnes' request to not use his music

Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes has asked anti Islamist protesters to stop using his songs as their anthems.

Reclaim Australia has after Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes asked the group wich is opposed to islamisation to stop using his songs for their anthems. 

"We are deeply saddened at the news of Jimmy Barnes asking us not to play his songs at our rallies..Mr Barnes, you have mistakenly believed incorrect news reports that Reclaim Australia is a racist group..This is not true...Inevitably at our rallies we unfortunately have some fanatics & we have tried our best to have them removed," the post stated.

"We are & will continue to support you privately as you are an Aussie Icon, however if it's your wish, we will no longer play your songs at our Rallies."

The Cold Chisel singer took to Facebook saying that it had come to his attention that "certain groups of people" had been playing his songs at rallies and that such groups did not represent him.

Groups, including Reclaim Australia and the United Patriots Front, have reportedly used Cold Chisel’s hit Khe Sanh at protests.

Barnes said in the statement "if you look at my family you can see we are a multicultural family."


He is an immigrant, after moving to Australia from Scotland in 1956.

His wife Jane, with whom he has four children, was born in Thailand.

 "I only want to say the Australia I belong to and love is a tolerant Australia. A place that is open and giving," he wrote.

The Anti-Islamic groups clashed with anti-racism protesters across the country at the weekend.
