New Zealand to reopen international borders
It comes as New Zealand prepares to open its international borders after two years spent closed off by the pandemic, and will also shake up its domestic COVID-19 restrictions.
Australians will be allowed to enter the country without needing to quarantine or isolate from 13 April, while fully vaccinated travellers from about 60 countries on a visa-waiver list will be able to arrive from 2 May.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said her cabinet is reviewing mandates, vaccine passes and the country's "traffic lights" system on Monday, with changes to be announced on Wednesday.
Restrictions are proving increasingly unpopular in New Zealand, which has persisted with gathering caps, indoor spacing requirements and mask mandates among other rules.
