Southern Australia's wet spring shows no signs of abating.
As rain-soaked areas of central and southern NSW, the ACT, Victoria and Tasmania report record or near-record September falls, the weather bureau is predicting October rainfall is likely to be above average.
That trend is likely to continue through to the end of the year for most of the country, the Bureau of Meteorology says in its latest climate outlook.
The bureau says its outlook reflects a negative Indian Ocean Dipole, warmer than average ocean temperatures surrounding northern Australia and an ENSO-neutral tropical Pacific, showing some La Nina-like characteristics.
October rainfall is likely to be above average across northern and eastern Australia with strongest chances over Victoria, Tasmania and southern NSW.
A small area in southern WA shows an increased chance of a drier month.
Only in the northeast and southwest of the country will October to December rainfall be less likely to be better than average.
