Social media users have created memes to “fix” Melania Trump’s jacket after her choice of wardrobe overshadowed her visit to a detention centre for migrant children.
Disembarking from a plane en-route to the facility in Texas, the US first lady wore a khaki green jacket with "I really don't care, do u?" written on the back.
The jacket was discarded by the time she arrived at the facility, but that did not stop the avalanche of media coverage and memes that followed.
The Trumps' media teams have been in damage control following the fashion faux pas.
Mrs Trump’s spokesperson, Stephanie Grisham, urged the media to focus on the reason for the visit, while US President Donald Trump blamed “the Fake News Media” for blowing the incident out of proportion.
The first lady's trip to Texas on Thursday was her most high-profile public appearance since undergoing a surgical procedure for a benign kidney condition on May 14. The procedure prompted her to drop largely out of sight for days.
The military-style jacket, with scrawled graffiti on the back, is a stark contrast to her usual designer label attire.
In the past, the first lady has worn designs by Christian Dior, Givenchy and Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, often paired with Christian Louboutin shoes.
Despite Mrs Trump's spokesperson insisting “there was no hidden message”, social media users disagreed.
Social media users were also inspired to take the newest critiquing Mr Trump's immigration policy and combine it with their take on Melania's jacket.
The cover features a two-year-old asylum seeker in anguish beseeching an indifferent President Trump.
