Health app for pregnant women in NSW

The NSW government says it is funding programs aimed at helping parents be healthy, including a new app for pregnant women.

A new app will offer pregnant women in NSW advice on eating and exercising in an effort to prevent them from gaining too much weight.

The NSW government will spend $1.2 million on funding the app and other projects to help new and expectant parents be healthy, including a telephone service for parents with children aged under two.

NSW Office of Preventive Health director Chris Rissel on Monday said gaining excess weight during pregnancy is linked to several issues, including childhood obesity and poor pregnancy and birth outcomes.
