The Turnbull government will use the final week of parliamentary sitting to introduce childcare reforms that will see the average family $30 a week better off.

The package includes a new work activity test, $3 billion in extra childcare funding, more funding for guardian grandparents and families on $250,000 seeing their childcare subsidies taper down from 50 per cent now.

The reaction from Labor and Greens has been lukewarm, with both parties demanding to see more detail and raising areas of concern with what is known.
