The theme of international women’s days this year is realising women’s rights.

Former Indian Cricket captain Mithali Raj said that her inspiration has been her mother over the years.

“My mother wanted me to be a dancer and my father wanted me to be a cricketer but when we chose that I will take cricket as a profession she supported me immensely,” said Mithali.
“Way back in the 90’s it wasn’t a career that a girl chose or a parent would want to choose for their kid.

“Since then women’s cricket has developed a lot and today you see a 16-year-old Shefali playing for India and their parents supporting her.” the cricketer further added.
