Local community organisation along with volunteers came together to provide relief to bushfire affected community of Bruthen, a small town located 300km East of Melbourne.
Smallgoods and items such as milk, water, noodles, toilet paper, tomato cans, nappies, canned food and much more were transported by a convoy of cars and distributed among more than a 100 families in need.
President of Pakistan Welfare Organisation told SBS Urdu that we were waiting to see what help was required in what area before deciding to start our donation drive.

“On our way to Bruthen, we saw a lot of devastation. A huge amount of land was burnt and now black in colour,” said Mr Abidi.
“A lot of people had lost their houses and were living in camps or caravans.
“They did not have enough food supplies and were not sure if they will have enough food for the next day. These people are only surviving on donations.” he further added. 
The response from the Burthen community was overwhelming according to Syed Amin, a volunteer who took part in this donation drive.

The organisation plans to go back to Bruthen in two weeks’ time to cook food for the local fireman, police and affected communities.
