In a country known for its love for sports, newly arrived migrants often give priority to their children's education over extracurricular activities.
Suffan Hassan, who works as a Club Officer at , advises migrant parents to balance their child's life well between academics and sports.
"Cricket is close to the hearts of South Asian migrants and many want their kids to benefit from the opportunities offered by Australia," says Suffan, who is also a professional cricket coach and plays First Grade in the NSW Premier Cricket competition.
Suffan is a graduate of Health Science (Sport & Exercise) and a qualified Cricket Australia Level Two coach.

Suffan suggests contacting local clubs and schools to get young children involved in club cricket.
Parents can also volunteer their spare time to local sports clubs, that will give them an opportunity to network within the local community.
He maintains his network within multicultural community organizations on sports-related projects such as the and the for BBL team Sydney Thunder.
Suffan also shines a light on the opportunities for young professionals and graduates for administrative and managerial jobs as a career pathway in the field of sports.
"Youngsters should come out from their gadget rooms and participate in sports to sharpen their talent," he advises.
