Cricket teams based on several communities including African Nations, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Fiji, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka took part in a local cricket event in Sydney.
More than 600 hundred players contested in the HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup.
Pakistan defeated India to win the Cup, which was the sixth edition of the community competition.
Pakistan captain Umair Warraich said that it was a huge opportunity just to feel that type of environment which only elite sportspeople tend to feel, and it was great fun.
“It’s a great honour to represent Pakistan in any capacity but to do that in cricket is such a great feeling and hopefully it will encourage more and more people to come and attend the trials and want to also represent Pakistan and eventually help to promote the game of cricket.”
“It was really important for us not to get too caught up in the moment and just focus on the brand of cricket which we have been playing and luckily for us we were able to do that.
Pakistan won the toss and India scored 49 runs from the allotted six overs.
Without losing a wicket, Pakistani’ openers Waleed Jalil and Subhan Khan scored the runs and won the match for their side.
