Pakistan among top 20 gainers in happiest nation’s new reports finds

Pakistan improved its rank by 8 places ranking at 67 out 156 countries according to the latest World Happiness Report.

In 2019, Finland has been ranked the world’s happiest country for the second year in a row.

The annual United Nations report has ranked Pakistan 67 out of 156 countries.

The rank is based on a survey which uses the Cantril ladder method.

In this method, people are asked to think of a ladder from 0 to 10 where 0 is the worst possible life and 10 is the best possible life for them.

People are then asked to rate their own current lives on a 0 to 10 scale.
Australia ranked 11 loosing its position from number 10 in world happiness.

Whereas Pakistan has improved its rank from 75 to 67 jumping 8 positions. It also improved 0.18 on the Cantril ladder scale was ranked among the top 20 gainers increasing its score by more than 0.7 points.

Pakistan is ranked between Portugal at 66 and Russia at 68.

Neighboring country India ranked at 140 in 2019 decreasing its rank from 133 in 2018.  

Over the last five years, there has been an improvement in Pakistan’s rank from 81 in 2015 to 67 in 2019.
Another interesting find is that Pakistan is the happiest country in the South Asian region followed by Bhutan and Nepal.

It is also the fourth happiest country in the Asian region, Taiwan being the first followed by Singapore, Thailand and then Pakistan.

What is this report?

It is an annual publication by the United Nations. The report finds and ranks 156 countries by how happy their citizens perceive themselves to be.

This year’s World Happiness Report focuses on happiness and the community: how happiness has evolved over the past dozen years, with a focus on the technologies, social norms, conflicts and government policies that have driven those changes.
