The U-S government has claimed responsibility for shutting down the biggest online black market for drugs, the Alphabay site.
The site was also the marketplace chosen by the vendor who sold Australian Medicare card numbers for around 30 dollars each.
The Medicare scam prompted the Human Services minister Alan Tudge to refer the matter to the Australian Federal Police for investigation.
Law enforcement in the Netherlands have also taken down another online black market called Hansa Market.
Europol chief Rob Wainwright says AlphaBay and Hansa Market were two of the top three criminal marketplaces online.
