A 33-year-old woman has become the sixth person to die after a car was driven into pedestrians in Melbourne's Bourke Street Mall on January 20.

Victoria Police have confirmed a 33-year-old woman has died yesterday (30) in hospital as a result of injuries sustained when a car drove into pedestrians in Melbourne's Bourke Street Mall on January 20. Another 9 people are being treated in a critical conditions, hospitals says.

Twenty-two-year-old Sydney-sider Jess Moudie, 33-year-old Melbournian Matthew Si, a 25-year-old Japanese national, 10-year-old Thalia Hakin and three-month-old Zachary Bryant were also killed.

A three-month-old baby boy has died following the deadly car rampage that took place in Melbourne's CBD on Friday, bringing the death toll of the attack to five.

 

Hospitals have treated 37 other people who were injured during the incident, and four victims remain in a critical condition.

 

Those who died included 10-year-old girl, a 25-year-old man, a 33-year-old man, a 32-year-old woman and the three-month-old baby boy who passed away Saturday night.

Government security cabinet meets

The Victorian Government is holding a special meeting of its Security and Emergency Management Cabinet subcommittee today, in response to the tragedy

 

The committee of senior ministers meets at the first opportunity after a major event or disaster.

 

It is understood the meeting will discuss potential reforms to bail laws, including whether Victoria will continue to use after-hours volunteer bail justices, who are not used in any other state.

 

The Government has also established a fund for community donations to help families affected by the rampage, contributing $100,000 to the fund, and a vigil has been planned for Monday night at Federation Square.

 

Meanwhile, federal Opposition Leader Bill Shorten visited the memorial site in the Bourke Street mall this morning to lay a floral tribute in memory of the victims

A young child is among four people who are dead after a car was deliberately driven into pedestrians in Melbourne's Bourke Street Mall, police say.

It is believed 26-year-old Dimitrious Gargasoulas, also known as James, was the driver. Police have not confirmed his identity

Victorian Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton said a man, a woman and a child were killed. More than 20 others have been injured.
Four have been taken to Royal Children's Hospital. Five have been taken to The Alfred Hospital. Three of those are in critical conditions and two are in serious conditions

Three people have been killed and 20 others injured after a man deliberately drove into pedestrians in Melbourne's Bourke Street

The alleged offender is now in police custody. According to the police, It was not a terror related incident.

Burke Street has completely been closed due to this situation
