ਵਿਕਟੋਰੀਆ ਦੇ ਸੁਪਰੀਮ ਕੋਰਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਿੰਨ ਹਫਤੇ ਚੱਲੇ ਮੁਕੱਦਮੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸੋਫੀਆ ਸੈਮ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਅਰੁਣ ਕਮਲਾਸਨਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਫੀਆ ਦੇ ਪਤੀ ਸੈਮ ਅਬ੍ਰਾਹਮ ਦੇ ਕਤਲ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਕਰਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਤਲ ਦੇ ਜੁਰਮ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਪਰ ਜਿਊਰੀ ਨੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਮੰਨਿਆ।
ਸੈਮ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦਿਲ ਦੇ ਦੌਰੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਪਰੰਤੂ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਖੁਫੀਆ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸਬੂਤ ਮਿਲੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਫੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਅਰੁਣ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਸਦਾ ਜ਼ਾਹਿਰ ਦੇਕੇ ਕਤਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਤੱਥ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਏ।
ਇੱਕ ਖੁਫੀਆ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਅਰੁਣ ਦਾ ਦੋਸਤ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਨਾਟਕ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਅਰੁਣ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਸਨੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਸੈਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਈਨਾਈਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਣਵਾਈ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸੋਫੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਅਰੁਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਸਬੂਤ ਵੀ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ।
ਦੋਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਜੁਰਮ ਲਈ ਉਮਰ ਕੈਦ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।

Sofia Sam and her lover Arun Kamalasanan have been found guilty of Sam Abraham’s murder by a jury after a three-week trial at the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Both Sofia and Arun denied killing the 33-year-old during the trial.
The trial heard secretly recorded confession Arun Kamalasanan made to an undercover police officer who had befriended him during which he detailed how he carried out the murder. 
Mr Abraham’s death was initially thought to be due to a heart attack until an autopsy confirmed the cause of his death was cyanide poisoning.
Sofia claimed she was unaware of her husband’s death until she woke up and found Mr Abraham dead in the bed.

Both Sofia and Arun were arrested in August 2016, months after Mr Abraham’s death, following an extensive undercover investigation by investigators during which the duo was observed secretly meeting after Mr Abraham’s death.
During the trial, diary notes exchanged between them were also displayed in which both had expressed their love for one another.
Mr Abraham was drugged with sleeping pills mixed into his avocado shake before he was poisoned with cyanide-laced orange juice poured down his throat while he slept at his home in Epping, in Melbourne’s north on 14 October 2015.
The pair will be sentenced at a later date.
