NSW

New South Wales has recorded 1405 new cases of community transmission to 8pm last night, and a further six deaths. This includes a woman in her 40s from south-western Sydney.

The big news out of today’s press conference however was Premier Berejiklian’s release of a comprehensive “roadmap to freedom for the fully vaccinated”. The roadmap detailed the new rules that will come into effect on the Monday after the state reaches 70% full-vaccination of those aged over 16. For the record, NSW currently sits at around 42.5% fully vaccinated.

This is ahead of the Central West and Far West and Orana regions, who sit at 35.9% and 32.9% rates of full-vaccination respectively, between 7-10% behind the state aggregate.

The Western NSW Local Health District recorded 24 new cases overnight — 15 in Dubbo, 4 in Walgett, 2 in Narromine, 2 in Bathurst and 1 in Orange.

The state government announced several regional areas where stay-at-home orders will be lifted as of Saturday the 11th of September. For the West and Far West regions, these include the Cobar, Coonamble, Warren, Warrumbungle, Bland, Cowra, Oberon, Weddin, Yass, Lachlan and Upper Lachlan LGAs.

Deputy Premier John Barilaro has stressed that this isn’t a return to pre-COVID life and activities. There are still many guidelines to be followed around venue capacity limits, limits to visitors in your home, and mandatory use of masks in all indoor public venues.

In Victoria there’s been a significant jump in case numbers, setting a new record-high for the current outbreak. 324 new locally acquired cases were recorded, with just a single case recorded in Shepparton. The state’s total active cases sit at 2166, the vast majority of which remain in metropolitan Melbourne.

The state’s regional lockdown lift will commence at 11.59pm tonight. Meaning that as of Friday September 10, with the exception of Greater Shepparton, all of regional Victoria will be out of lockdown.
