New South Wales has recorded 283 new cases of community transmission to 8pm last night, and seven deaths, including a man in his 40s from Maitland.
The Hunter New England Local Health District recorded 62 new cases — 22 in Lake Macquarie, 10 in Newcastle, 8 in Cessnock, 7 in Maitland, 5 in MidCoast, 5 in Tamworth, 3 in Port Stephens and 2 in Singleton.
The Western NSW Local Health District recorded 5 new cases — 2 in Walgett, 2 in Wellington and 1 in Dubbo.
The Far West Local Health District recorded one new case in Dareton, a household contact of a previous case.
Victoria
In Victoria there were 1841 new locally acquired cases to midnight last night, and a further 12 deaths. This brings the total number of active cases in the state to 22,598.
Regional Victoria recorded 153 new cases, including 23 in Mitchell Shire, 22 in Bendigo, 21 in Geelong, 15 in Mildura and 14 in Shepparton.

In response to a question regarding Mildura’s exit from lockdown, COVID-19 Commander Jeroen Weimar stated that Mildura is being reviewed today, with a final announcement expected to come tomorrow morning.
He did however say that based on interactions with local organisations such as Mallee District Aboriginal Services and Mildura Base Hospital that things are “tracking well”.
Weimar also encouraged Victorians to approach the lockdown lift sensibly and responsibly on Thursday night, highlighting that the risk of catching COVID still exists, despite the new freedoms.
