Western NSW has several LGAs removed from stay-at-home orders
Ballarat will receive an additional 10,000 Pfizer doses throughout its lockdown

NSW

New South Wales recorded 1351 new cases of community transmission to 8pm last night. The state also recorded 12 deaths, and 10 of those people were unvaccinated.

The Western NSW Local Health District shot back up into double digits with 27 new cases recorded, with State Member for Dubbo Dugald Saunders describing it as “a bit of a reality check”.

Of the 27 new cases, 12 were in Dubbo, 6 in Bathurst, 6 in Walgett, 2 in Bourke and 1 was in Wellington.

Deputy Premier John Barilaro announced several LGAs in the district that will have their stay-at-home orders lifted from 1pm today. Those are the Blayney, Bogan, Cabonne, Forbes and Parkes LGAs. These are in addition to the Bega, Dungog, Muswellbrook, Narrabri, Singleton, Snowy Monaro and Upper Hunter Shire LGAs also having their restrictions lifted today.

The Member for Dubbo also wished to dispel a common myth circulating on social media regarding the wearing of face masks. It’s still mandatory in public venues the same as it’s always been. The confusion may have come from the mandate being removed as its own standalone public order. However, that order’s been directly incorporated into a more general public order, and so the same rules legally still apply.

The Far West Local Health District recorded 2 new cases, both of which were in Broken Hill.

Victoria

In Victoria there were 514 new locally acquired cases recorded, and zero deaths in the last reporting period.

Regional Victoria recorded 10 new cases — 4 in Mitchell Shire, 3 in Ballarat, 2 in Geelong and 1 in Murrindindi.

With regards to the Ballarat lockdown which came into effect at midnight last night, Premier Dan Andrews confirmed that the town would be receiving an additional 10,000 Pfizer doses shortly.

Andrews also announced a new reason to leave the home, and that is outdoor social interaction. It’s for activities such as picnics and recreation, and it does come with strict guidelines. For the unvaccinated, one person may meet with one other person. For the vaccinated, up to five people from a maximum of two households may meet in public. It can be for up to four hours, and as far as 10km from home.
