The latest news on the current Delta strain outbreak affecting regional NSW and Victoria's Indigenous communities.


NSW

New South Wales recorded 212 new cases to 8pm last night, and two deaths, both men aged in their 70s. There are now 2964 active cases across the state, with a full-vaccination rate of 91.1% among those aged over 16.

The Hunter New England Local Health District recorded 54 new cases — 15 in MidCoast, 9 in Newcastle, 7 in Inverell, 6 in Lake Macquarie, 5 in Tamworth, 4 in Maitland, 4 in Port Stephens, 3 in Cessnock and 1 in Moree Plains.

The Western NSW Local Health District recorded 5 new cases — 4 in Orange and 1 in Bathurst.

The Far West Local Health District recorded one new case, in Ivanhoe.

Victoria

Onto Victoria where there were 797 new locally acquired cases recorded to midnight last night, and eight deaths. There are currently 14,131 active cases across Victoria, with a full-vaccination rate of 87% among those aged over 12.

Regional Victoria recorded 100 new cases overnight, including 23 in Moira, 14 in Geelong, 11 in Bendigo, 9 in Latrobe, 9 in Campaspe and 4 in Shepparton.

There are now 331 active cases in Greater Shepparton, 309 in Latrobe, 291 in Greater Geelong and 72 in Mildura.
