O-la Music Festival is coming very soon. The festival promises two fantastic nights with the best Korean and Chinese hip-hop artists at Showground in Sydney.


In celebration of Korean Day (Hangul Day), many celebrities shared their love of Hangul. BTS was one of them. Their V Live Channel introduced Korean language, and International ARMY fans responded with a hashtag, Because of BTS, I learnt Hangul, and posted the handwritten lyric of their favourite BTS songs. Also, BTS was awarded with “Hanbok Love” Certificate of Appreciation. Their appearance in hanbok in the music videos like “Idol” and the concerts have appealed the panel.

Super Junior Siwon Choi also announced that he would answer the questions from the fans if they wrote them in Korean. Wanna One’s Daniel Kang participated in the Handwriting competition. He called his handwriting as Danity font named after his fan club. Danity responded with Danity Challenge. They wrote his lyrics in handwriting and posted the photos of it on Social Media. Other celebrities who participated in the handwriting competition were Soyou (Sista), Yeoreum (WJSN), Cho-rong (Apink).

Meanwhile, actress Hye Kyo Song and Professor Kyung-Deok Seo donated 10,000 copies of Hangul guidebook to Japanese village, Utoro. “This year is a historic year that marks the 100th anniversary of the 1 Mar Movement and establishment of the provisional government of Korea. It is meaningful to donate guidebooks to new places. However, we’ve been steadily focused on sending more books to those where we have donated to fill them fully,” said Professor Seo. Utoro Village is the 17th place since they started from Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall in Shanghai, China.

Seventeen’s 3rd album ‘An Ode’ topped Oricon Weekly Album Sales Chart with 44,000 copies of sales since released on 16 Sept. According to Oricon, this latest full album also came in first place on Overseas Album Chart and Weekly Overall Album Chart. The globally renowned band is on a world tour “Ode to You” started from Seoul. Their Japan concerts in four cities next month have been all sold out.

Producer Primary and Model Bora Nam tied the knot on the 9 Oct. Their wedding was a surprise to the public as they never leaked any information about their engagement. Primary’s labelmates Dynamic Duo’s Gaeko, JunggiGo, Sam Kim, and Esna sang the congratulatory songs at their wedding in Cheongdamdong.

Chung Ha, Jessi, BewhY, Kim Taek Nam are few of the invited Korean musicians. Also, if you take their K-pop workshop before the festival, you will be given a chance to dance on Chung Ha and Jessi’s stage. Tickets are on sale on Ticketek. Cheetah and Verbal Jint are coming to Sydney! This free concert is on 16 Nov from 5.50 to 9 pm, in Darling Square, Sydney. The MC will be SBS PopAsia’s Andy Trieu. 

Debuted in the duo, Blacklist, Cheetah is a female rapper who rose to fame as a solo artist after winning the TV competition Unpretty Rapstar. Verbal Jint, nicknamed as the ‘King of Flow’ is recognised as a game-changer in the industry, known for his ground-breaking innovations in Korean hip hop. The concert will be consist of their latest hits.

 K-pop band Day6’s Sydney and Melbourne concert venue are finalised according to MyMusicTaste. The website is a fan-initiated concert making platform where fans invite artists to the city they live in. It has confirmed the artists’ availability on the 20 Sept, but no update since. However, it seems the fans’ wait will be over soon as on 4 Oct, the site updated the venue status as “checked”, which means the concert details are expected to be announced soon. 

Day6 will come back on 22 Oct with their new album, The Book of Us: Entropy.  

Joker has topped the Korean cinema charts whilst Crazy Romance is following as the second.

House of Hummingbird is going to break the record of the most sold indie film with the current total ticket sales of 123,000 in 6 weeks. The record of Breathless was 123,029. Also, the film is invited to BFI London Film Festival as a title consideration for the Sutherland Award in the First Feature Competition. This will be the movie’s 28th award if it wins.
