A Korean Australian mother, Jung Yoon, has initiated a project called 'Let's Be Friends', an art campaign aiming to enhance intercultural relationships between people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds so as to help multicultural mums with a child with disability.


Hello to Me’ is a children’s book about friendship with children with disability.

The main character, Joanne has multiple disabilities including autism, hearing loss and is nonverbal. We can learn how we can understand her disability and become friends with her.

This is the first project of an art campaign, ‘Let’s Be Friends’, that aims to promote understandings and friendship amongst people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.

And behind the all is Jung Yoon, mother of Joanne. Jung Yoon’s life has changed a lot since she found her first baby Joanne had been found out to have multiple disabilities.

She educated herself through Master’s degree and Graduate Diploma to be able to support her child and now she is sharing her knowledge as far as she could.

Her goal for Hello to Me is to send a copy to every Australian primary school. However, after few fails with the government’s grant program, she is running crowd funding at Pozible.com.
