Today a professor of biomedical engineering at Sydney’s Macquarie University, Alberto Avolio came to Sydney with his mother Mafalda on New Year's Eve in 1955 on the ship Castel Felice.

After they got off the ship, a steam train took them to Mareeba, North Queensland, where they reunited with father Luigi, who had migrated in 1952.
