Restrictions continue to be lifted but medical experts are warning about the threat of the XE variant.

State governments continue to ease COVID-19 restrictions. However, NSW recently detected a case of the XE COVID-19 variant in a returned overseas traveller. Victoria health authorities have also identified the incidence a new COVID sub-variant. What does this mean for our health?


Dr Dicky Budiman is an epidemiologist who is undertaking research to complete his PhD at Griffith University.  He tells Sri Dean why the XE variant poses a threat to public health and what we need to do to combat it.
