A new report has found there is an urgent need to address the barriers that women from refugee backgrounds face in accessing paid work.

The Flinders University study concluded that if they could find a job, they are being shuffled into lower paid roles, despite having work experience and qualifications.

There's currently a backlog of visa applications to be processed which business is keen to have addressed, so major projects can find workers.

But a new report says there's a pool of workers already here in Australia that remains untapped - namely refugee women.
