The Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Treasurer Josh Frydenberg announced it $130 wage subsidy package to keep Australians in work for the next 6 months.
Those who are eligible are medium and small businesses, big businesses, casual, part-time, full-time workers who are stood down or unemployed from the 1 March 2020 and sole traders whose businesses are struggling.
New Zealanders who hold 444 visa are also eligible for this package.
Treasurer Josh Frydenberg says that, worker who are stood down, and big businesses whose turn over is less than 30% or more are eligible to apply up to $100,000 to pay their employees and big businesses whose turn over up to 50% or more are eligible to apply up to $250,000 to pay their employees and keep their businesses run as long as they can for the next 6 months.
"We will pay employers to pay their employees and we will make sure they do," says Australia Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
Employees who earn up to $80,000 and their partner has lost their jobs will be eligible for this wage subsidy package.
Businesses will be able to lodge through the Australian Tax Office and will receive this package by 1 May 2020.
However, Prime Minister Scott Morrison says his government will still need to discuss about this matter with the federal opposition key ministers and its treasurer tonight or tomorrow (31 March 2020) to pass legislation, so this package can be delivered.
There will be 6 months rent moratorium to tenants and they cannot be evicted. The Australian Banking Association today said it will coordinate with tenants, commercial tenancy and leasing to handle the rental issue as see appropriate.
Australia Prime Minister made it clear that if rules are not followed businesses will not eligible for the $105 billion economic stimulus package.
