Government aims to enhance university access for indigenous, regional, and outer-suburban students

To facilitate the enrollment of Indigenous, regional, and outer-suburban students into universities, the Australian government has proposed modifications to the education system. As part of these changes, the requirement for these students to achieve a minimum 50 per cent passing score will be eliminated. These forthcoming adjustments are being closely examined by student advocates, who are expressing their opinions.

Federal Education Minister, Jason Clare has announced two key changes to help more Indigenous Australians get into university and finish their degrees. This includes extending demand driven funding to all First Nations students who are eligible for the course they apply for and abolishing the 50 percent pass rule, introduced as part of the previous government's Job-ready Graduates Scheme.
