The recent introduction of the trans-Tasman travel bubble which allows New Zealanders to travel to Australia without undergoing quarantine has freed up more places for quarantine in Sydney.

Additional quarantine places have also been arranged at Northern Territory’s Howards Springs centre.

On Friday, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced a further increase on the cap on the number of international arrivals after the national cabinet.

“There will be more people arriving in Western Australia and Queensland next month: 140 more arrivals in Western Australia and 150 more arrivals in Queensland,” the Prime Minister announced.

Special repatriation flights arranged to bring back Australians stuck in India

Australia has also announced four special repatriation flights to bring back Australians stuck in India.

These repatriation flights are excluded from the international arrivals cap and are facilitated by the government rather than scheduled commercial services.

All services will be underwritten by the Australian Government and operated by Qantas on a cost-recovery basis.

The one-way economy fares will cost $1500 from New Delhi and travellers will be asked to quarantine at their own expense in Darwin.
