There are days when 39-year-old Dr Yogi Bhatt has to begin his day at dawn.
He works as an anaesthetist at various private hospitals across Melbourne and often works at odd hours when work demands.
The Australian Taxation Office has revealed that his profession was amongst the highest paid in Australia in the year 2015-16.
But it's not the money that Dr Bhatt enjoys the most about his profession.
“My patients trust me with their life when they are being cut open and operated. They place their full trust in me and that is my biggest reward."
"Being able to save and improve people’s lives is very rewarding. That feeling is priceless,” says Dr Bhatt who has been working as an anaesthetist for past 11 years.
His profession has been ranked at number two in the top ten list of Australia’s highest earners revealed by the on Friday.

Surgeons come out on the top of the list, while anaesthetists and internal medicine specialists rank 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The top ten also includes CEOs, managers, financial dealers and psychiatrists.
Whilst these occupations reflect pay across Australia, there are some differences in the highest paying jobs for each state.

Nationwide, mining engineers are the eighth highest paid on average, but Victoria and New South Wales don’t have miners on the list.
In Victoria, the 10th spot is taken by air traffic controllers and in New South Wales it's mathematicians.

The report also revealed Australia’s richest suburbs based on income tax returns.
