The Australian government has announced it is deploying officers to key locations in a bid to attract thousands of people at the top of their professional fields.
"Global Talent officers are being deployed to six locations overseas – Berlin, Washington, Santiago, Shanghai, Dubai and Singapore – with each officer working across a number of countries in their broader geographical region," a spokesperson for the Department of Home Affairs told SBS Hindi.
The officer based in Dubai will cover India.

Melbourne-based education and immigration expert Chaman Preet finds it surprising that someone based in Dubai will cover India.
"It's a bit surprising that India is not on the list, although it will be covered through Dubai. Despite the fact that India is a huge market, especially for the IT and ITES sector," Chaman Preet said.
The Global Talent Independent Program was announced last year.

On , Immigration Minister David Coleman revealed one officer is in place in Berlin, Germany, with more to be sent next month to other locations.
Their task is to recruit 5,000 professionals at the top of their fields in target industries, particularly the tech sector.
"Home Affairs officers will be placed in key overseas locations to seek out the very best people in high growth industries, and encourage them to come to Australia to help grow those industries," Mr Coleman said.
Mr Coleman is focusing on international students, skilled migrants and increasing migration to regional Australia.
"It stands to reason that the more skilled a migrant is, the better," Mr Coleman said at the Sydney Institute on Tuesday evening.
