An eight-year-old Indian girl has died after being hit by a car in Melbourne’s East.
Avreet Jhinger was returning home from the playground when she was hit by a car on Wednesday evening.
It is believed the eight-year-old girl was struck as she attempted to cross the Victoria Street about 6:30 pm.
The driver of the vehicle, a 64-year-old Doncaster East woman, stopped and rendered assistance at the scene.

She was a Grade 4 student at the Templestowe Park Primary School.
The devastated family described their little girl as a "princess" who loved to study and dress up.
In a statement released to Channel Nine, Avreet's family said she liked to dance and play games on her iPad. "She was our princess."
Police believe she stepped out in front of the vehicle and are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the pedestrian prior to the crash or anyone who may have dash cam footage.
