An air hostess got seriously injured after she fell out of an Air India plane that was about to fly to New Delhi from Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai.

The incident happened on Monday on the Air India's New Delhi bound AI 864 when the air hostess was closing the aircraft's L5 door to allow the step ladder to align with the door, she slipped into a gap and fell down.

According to NDTV, the airline said in a statement, "In an unfortunate incident, one of our cabin crew, Harsha Lobo, fell down on the tarmac from the Boeing-777 aircraft door while closing it.
The 53 years old air hostess suffered injuries to her legs and has been taken to the Nanavati Hospital for treatment.

According to the tweet by ANI, doctors treating the air hostess said, "She is stable and responding to treatment. Her right leg requires multiple surgeries which will be performed in the next few days."
It is not the first time that a member of the airline has suffered an injury. About 3 years ago, an Air India engineer died in the plane after he was sucked into the running engine at Mumbai airport, the tragedy happened when the pilot started the engines prematurely after mistaking a signal given by the ground staff.

Recently, a week ago, one of the jets carrying 130 passengers to Dubai from Trichy hit an airport wall at take-off and then flew for almost three hours with the damaged part before it was diverted to Mumbai where it landed safely.
